How to Focus in Class

Unable to focus in class. It's quite common for students to be unable to focus on what teachers are saying or teaching in class. Here are some ways to get you to focus:

  • Get a good night's sleep. At least eight hours each night. Make it a routine to go to bed early. Even our minds need to rest.
  • Eat a healthy breakfast. Having a nutritious meal in the morning helps you have a bit of energy for the morning. This will help you become more focused and less groggy throughout the day.
  • Avoid sitting with friends. Sitting with friends is a distraction to you and everyone around, if you keep talking and and pointing out things on your phones. Try sitting away from them in class, you want to be on top of your class, not below it. If you have assigned seats near your friends, ask your teacher to be moved somewhere else.
  • Remove all distractions. We can't always help getting distracted once in a while. But if it happens way too many times, It's probably time to put those distracting stuff into your bag or on the floor.
  • Look at the teacher and make eye contact. This way shows your teacher that you are paying attention and are processing what they are saying.
  • Know your goal. Always set a goal of what you want to get in class. This will help motivate you to try better in class.
  • Take notes. Notes are there to help you study and revise after each and every lesson you did that day.
  • Get involved in class discussions. This helps you engage into topics with your teacher and peers.
  • Ask questions. Asking questions allows you to engage with the class. It is also helpful to ask if you and someone in class didn't understand something during the lesson.
  • Do your best. Everybody is not going to be able to focus once in a while. When you walk into class, have a smile on your face and a positive attitude. Do your best and show your true potential.
